Less Than A Week To Go...

... and as usual I am crapping myself at this point. I often worry about whether or not we've forgotten something really important ('cos we almost always do)and I'm worried we'll be ready to deliver a decent standard of show. Most of the cast have been absent at some point during the rehearsal schedule and it hasn't been a help.

In fact, I feel I must speak up about it now, before comedy is done a grave disservice. Sure, I could shrug my shoulders and say nothing, but then comedy would be the loser. I'm ready to play with big boys. Really big boys, maybe even the biggest. Certainly I will be playing with the biggest boys I can find. I don't need more experience. I'm brilliant, brilliant and ready to play with those big, big boys. The lack of support for grassroots big boys in Glasgow is terrible.

But perhaps it will come together. Perhaps we will once again, against the odds pull off our sacred mission; to mildly impress a small bunch of folk we already know. It is with that mission in mind that I boldly go into tonight’s rehearsal with renewed vigour.

Glue 3 - Fri. 23rd September Blackfriars 8pm (Early Show)

Part of the Merchant City Festival

After a very successful 2 night stint in July, here we go yet again.

And it's been quite a ride already. About 80% new material. Paul asked back after we were told he was "desperate" to work with us again. Of course he said no. Fine, tracksuit.

Booked into Arta, a 200 capacity venue. How were we going to fill that? Never mind. We don't have to. Rod Stewart (no, really) wanted it that night, so we're out.

Then onto rehearsals. Quite tricky when the cast are mostly off on holiday at different times. So we're putting the show together kind of in the same way as The Doors made "L.A Woman". It's all going pretty well though.

Our "big" publicity push should kick in this weekend. Oh, and this will be the last time we use Alan Anderson to "promote" a show of ours, after he somehow managed to get us listed in the festival brochure with several errors, including a bit where he says we're putting a Ceiliah on (again, no, really). Mental.

You Owe Me Glue 2 - 16th, 17th July, Blackfriars

So we're doing it all again, Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th of July.

We're having our first rehearsal tonight, which is much, much too close to the show for me, but had to be this way because of cast commitments etc. It's the same cast as before apart from Paul Cumming, who pulled out last night, siting being too busy at work as his reason.

That cuts no ice with me. He is a fucking dead man. Tracksuit. If he thinks he's going to pull out of our fucking show 3 weeks before we're on and walk away with both knackers working, he has a painful reality check coming.

Seriously, this leaves us now with the incredibly difficult task of dividing Paul's parts among the remaining cast members as well as learning new material in about 3 week over a dozen or so rehearsals. We are also short of crew, technical equipment, money and our promoter is away on holiday, so can't fix the many errors he has made in terms of pricing and billing the show.

Can the Glue Crew pull it off? Watch this space...

Mind the Sword There Missus

Just over two weeks left, we're starting to see the Glue title and our names on posters and chalkboards all over town. Thanks to Cathy and Pauline we're much closer to having costumes and props. Which has led to people on buses and in shops being jabbed by swords and walking sticks as we carry them in and out of rehearsal. The more we've rehearsed in the 13th Note the more comfortable we seem to be with the show.

I'll stick up some more rehearsal photos shortly.

Rehearsal Update

I haven't written anything here for a while and I'm bored so perhaps I should update. We're now at the stage where we can run the show in its entirety and so far we're getting through it okay. The scripts are being laid down for most sketches and further little things are growing. We upped the hours of rehearsal each week too.

We managed to use the 13th Note itself for rehearsals on Sunday afternoon and the more often we're in there the more we can become accustomed to the space.

Cathy and Pauline have set off to make us costumes with Moira also unpacking her sewing machine. We really need costumes and props to make an appearance very soon as they will throw the timing and the rhythm off, to begin with at least.

We're just about to begin contacting media and industry folk to see if any of them will have any interest in coming along to see what we have to offer.

The Show's Writers, no wonder they're trying to hide.

Paul and Darran, but what exactly are they checking out?

Rehearsals and a New Website

With 2 down at rehearsals last night it actually went really well. We spent a bit more time on what individual sketches we could perform. We were back in O'Neills this time, which is a good space.

We have been told that we can actually begin to use the 13th Note, the actual venue for the show, to rehearse in at the weekends. So hopefully we can get started in there this weekend.

Fizz and I have both booked the week of the show off work and as we work inthe same department it seemed to cause some sort of bother. How will our work cope that week with both us two slacker off?

In addition to this site we now have a proper website up www.youowemeglue.com There's not an awful lot on it at the moment, but we will have some more information and stuff up in a few days. Thanks to Tommy and Ronnie for this.
